Our History
Grace Bible Church began as a home Bible study of about twenty people in the summer of 2002. In August of 2002, GBC formally incorporated as an independent, evangelical Bible church, committed to the fundamental, historic truths recorded in God’s inerrant revelation-the Holy Scriptures. In February 2003, Bryan McKenzie joined the GBC family as full-time teaching pastor. Clint Goode was hired as full-time student pastor in January of 2005. We moved to our current location in March of 2006.
How to Join
Any individual who confesses the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior and who is in agreement with the Statement of Faith listed in Article III of the Constitution is qualified and eligible for membership in Grace Bible Church. Anyone who desires to become a member should contact one of the elders and request membership. At least two elders will meet with the individual to discuss this decision. If the individual meets the qualifications for membership, he/she will be placed on the roll and will be acknowledged before the full membership as new member.
How can I find out what GBC believes and teaches?
Here on our website there is a link to our Statement of Faith, Philosophy of Ministry, and Church Government. These can all be found on our About Grace page. We avoid labels because labels often mean different things to different people. We have hard copies of the church’s constitution available for download on the right side of the About Grace page. You can also pick up a hard copy at the church. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask a member of the leadership team.
Why should I join GBC or any local church for that matter?
Who leads Grace Bible Church?
What Bible version do you use?
Faith was never meant to be a solo effort. The Bible clearly identifies the Church as a place where God grows us, encourages us, and uses us best. It is where the Christian life is lived and tested. In joining you are committing yourself to this family of believers and this community is committing itself to you. As the title of one book puts it, “Stop Dating the Church, Fall in Love with the Family of God.”
Our church is lead by a team of elders who seek to shepherd our people under the authority of the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We believe this follows the pattern of church government found in the New Testament. Our elders work as a pastoral team. There is no time limit to the service of our elders. We also have deacons and one staff member who assist in the leadership of Grace Bible Church by serving in specific areas of ministry. Although the team of elders is primarily charged with the responsibility to lead our body, input from the body is both sought and encouraged.
Where does GBC get the money to operate?
We are not supported by any denomination or outside entity. Our budget is funded entirely through the giving of those that attend the church. We don’t “pass the plate” but rather, have an offering box at the back of the sanctuary.
We use many Bible versions. The version most often read in the worship service is the New American Standard Bible (NASB). We find that the NASB is probably the best word-for-word translation. But you may hear other versions like the New Internation Version (NIV), King James Version (KJV), or the English Standard Version (ESV).
